Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) Program Launch
The Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) will launch in early April 2018. This new five-year commitment by Canada's federal, provincial and territorial governments will support Canada's agri-food and agri-products sector.
The federal and provincial governments will be committing up to $1.5 billion to the Ontario agri-food sector: $1.1 billion for Business Risk Management funding and $417 million for strategic initiatives to help grow Ontario's agri-food and agri-products sectors.
Strategic initiatives will support projects in three key priority areas, with research and innovation continuing to be a key focus across all programming:
- Economic development in the agri-food and agri-products sectors
- Environmental stewardship, to enhance water quality and soil health
- Protection and Assurance to reinforce the foundation for public trust in the sector through improved assurance systems in food safety and plant and animal health.
As with the former Growing Forward 2 program, the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) will continue to administer the CAP program for the producers.
The first intake window for producers, processors and other agri-businesses to apply for cost-share funding assistance will be from April 3 to May 8, 2018.
Further program details, including program guides, eligible funding activities and application forms will be available on the OSCIA website on March 29, 2018.
