The Quebec Electronic Market

The Quebec Electronic Market reported for this week ranged from $230.25-$232.50 dressed, down $2.68 from last week on average.

Alberta Direct Trade

The Alberta direct trade on Thursday was light. Canfax reports: "dressed sales ranged from 237.00-240.00 delivered. Sales are steady to 5.00 higher than the previous week. Cattle that were bought this week were being scheduled for the week for the week of September 3rd and September 10th delivery. All three western Canadian packers bought cattle this week. Cash to futures basis levels did strengthen this week. Cattle that were being carried over since early August were sold this week."

U.S. Trade (U.S. funds)

The U.S. cash cattle trade saw a couple of sales yesterday at $173.00 dressed, but again, not enough to establish a market.  A few sales have been scattered through the week but for the most part, sellers are digging in their heels and holding out for better prices.  Asking prices are sitting today at $112.00 plus live and $178.00 plus dressed.  Packer interest should improve as the day progresses, but this week could be another week of late Friday trading.
