This is the Beef Farmers of Ontario's mid-day market report for Wednesday, November 22, 2017

Prices are reported on a "per one hundred pound" basis, unless otherwise stated.

Updated daily as the information is submitted, completed by 12:00 noon.

Today at the Ontario Stockyards Inc. there are 155 fed steers & heifers, 230 cows, 15 bulls and 15 veal calves on offer.

Cows are selling actively with prices at least $5.00-$7.00 cwt higher. Bulls sold steady to strong. Veal sold steady to Monday and 1,000 stockers are expected for Thursday's sale.

U.S. Trade (U.S. funds)

The U.S. cash cattle trade was moderate to active in most feeding states yesterday as they get business done ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Business in the south started first with sales generally $1.00 lower than last week from $117.00-$119.00 live, majority at $118.00 live. In the north trade was steady early to a few $1.00 higher later in the day.  Live sales in the north ranged from $118.00-$120.00 while dressed deals were from $188.00-189.00.  This morning bids in the north are sitting at $188.00-$190.00 dressed but no sales have take place at this time.  The Fed Cattle Exchange online auction got underway today at 11:00 am, with 955 head on offer and no sales as sellers passed bids of $119.00 live.
