U.S. Trade (U.S. funds)
The U.S. cash cattle trade was quiet with just a couple of deals in the south at steady money but nothing is verifed at this time. This morning the market is quiet but packer interest should start to surface as the day progresses. Asking prices in the south are sitting at $140.00 live while the north still remains undefined. Sellers are expected to hold out for at least steady prices this week. Show lists in the south are lighter and the north is steady to a touch higher than last week and boxed beef prices were stronger yesterday. However, packers are buying for a shorter week next week due to the 4th of July holiday on Monday.
At the Central Stockyards online auction today there are 1,628 head on offer, in 9 lots with delivery in the next two weeks. One lot of 265 steers sold in Texas for $138.00 live while the remaining 8 lots were left unsold as reserve bids from $135.00 (1 lot) and $138.50-$140.00 live were not met.
