Response to 19-16 - EMERGENCY SLAUGHTER PROCESS
The BFO Board believes in the importance of emergency slaughter services for Ontario’s beef producers, and recognizes that the procedure for accessing it may not be clear to all producers. As per request, staff have compiled a resource (see the PDF below) to guide producers through the basic process of accessing emergency slaughter. We have also included some information on compromised cattle, but following the advice of veterinarians consulted in the process of researching this issue, we will not offer explicit advice on treatment of compromised cattle that differs from either performing immediate euthanasia or following normal emergency slaughter procedure.
This resource is available to county and district associations for distribution to their membership.
