PRODUCER RELATIONS SPECIALIST / SENIOR PRODUCER RELATIONS SPECIALIST
(FULL-TIME POSITION)
Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated professional with strong knowledge of, or direct experience in, cattle production to join our team in a producer-facing role. Depending on qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will be appointed as either a Producer Relations Specialist or Senior Producer Relations Specialist, with compensation reflecting experience, expertise, and scope of responsibility.

Position Overview
The Producer Relations Specialist provides direct support to Ontario beef farmers on a wide range of issues related to cattle and beef production. This role works closely with producers, industry partners, government, and BFO staff to deliver education, support certification programs, and contribute to policy and communications efforts.
This is a remote position that can be fulfilled from anywhere within the Province of Ontario. Qualified candidates located between east of Toronto to the Quebec border would be considered an asset. However, BFO is soliciting qualified candidates from all regions of the province.
Travel is required approximately 25% of the time, predominantly within central and eastern Ontario. Some out of province travel may be required from time to time.
Employment Details
- Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
- Location: Remote
- Compensation Range: $35-52/hr based on a standard 37.5-hour work week
- Compensation for the position is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health and dental coverage, access to a wellness program, paid vacation, a matching RRSP program.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and maintain strong, open communication with BFO members and related beef industry organizations and businesses
- Plan and deliver producer education and training workshops and seminars (e.g., animal care and handling, on-farm food safety, biosecurity, traceability)
- Assist producers with the development of on-farm standard operating procedures, records, and documentation in preparation for certification audits
- Support BFO policy and communications staff by contributing technical input and draft messaging for government consultations and media inquiries
- Help coordinate and facilitate beef industry tours and engagement requests from media, government, industry partners, and international delegations
- Attend tradeshows, events, and industry meetings as a BFO representative
- Represent BFO on select industry and government committees or boards, as required
- Convey a spirit of openness and responsiveness to producer and industry feedback, concerns, and suggestions
Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of beef production and issues affecting the Ontario beef sector, ideally gained through direct or past involvement in cattle production
- Strong ability to apply technical and analytical expertise to the development, evaluation, or implementation of programs and policies
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and willingness to travel
- Experience working with or on behalf of a board, industry association, government, or not-for-profit organization is considered an asset
