Quinte Cattlemen's Association - Stocker Sale
As of Monday morning, Jan. 19, our consigned numbers for the January 23 Quinte Stocker Sale are
approximately 700 with the likelihood that they will reach 850 - 900 by sale day. This is an all vaccinated sale
and the offering will be of excellent quality. Presently there is a good distribution across the weights from
450 lb. to 1000 lb. The strongest breed influences are Char/CharX and AngusX [both Black and Red] with
significant presence of Simm and Hereford, as well. There is a significant group of double moved cattle.
As always, many consignors are prepared to guarantee their heifers to be open. Presently approximately
half of our consigned numbers are represented in the feature lots listed below.
Feature One-Owner Lots
[i]Approximately 100 [60% heifers, 40% steers] double moved cattle featuring CharX and Black Xbreds
mainly- heifer weights in the range of 950 lb. and steer weights approximately 1000 lb. - all properly live
vaccinated and heifers guaranteed open and steers guaranteed to be properly castrated - bunk trained
and fed corn silage, haylage, green oats, and 5 lb. daily of wet distillers by TMR - fancy cattle that will sell
in good sized uniform ring lots -
[ii]85 [approximately 50 steers, 35 heifers] B. Angus X in the 650 - 750 lb. range approximately - heifers are guaranteed to be open and steers have been castrated surgically on Oct. 18 - vaccinated on Oct. 18 using
a live 5 way + Pasteurella, Blackleg, and parasite control - parasite control again Dec. 10 - weaned Nov. 18 -
fed dry hay, wrapped oats, and 15% Vintage pellets - calves were sired by high performance bulls -
[iii]65 [approx. 40 steers, 25 heifers] Char, CharX calves in the range of 700 lb. from a live vaccinated
cowherd - heifers are guaranteed to be open and steers were castrated surgically - vaccinated in spring
with a live 5 way + Pasteurella and Blackleg and repeated in October as well as adding parasite control -
fed wrapped hay and 15% pellets -
[iv]35 [17 steers, 18 heifers] R. Angus calves in the 550 - 650 lb. weight range from a vaccinated cowherd -
vaccinated with a live 5 way + Pasteurella, Blackleg/Somnus, and given parasite control on Jan. 8 - heifers
are guaranteed to be open and steers were banded at birth - weaned in the first week of January - fed dry
hay and a grain/pellet mix - sired by high performance bulls -
[v]34 [22 steers, 12 heifers] CharX calves in the 550 -650 lb. range approximately from a long term live
vaccinated cowherd - heifers are guaranteed to be open and steers were banded at birth -weaned Oct. 18 and vaccinated Nov. 1 using a live 5 way as well as parasite control - fed wrapped hay, corn silage and 3 lb./day
of 15% Vintage pellets - calves sired by Full French bulls -
[vi]32 [22 steers, 1 male, 9 heifers] Simm, and B. Angus/Simm calves in the 600 -700 lb. weight range
approximately from a live vaccinated cowherd - vaccinated with a live 5 way + Presponse on June 3 and
again on Dec. 23, Blackleg on June 3 and parasite control on Dec. 23 - heifers are guaranteed open and
steers were banded at birth - fed dry hay, wrapped hay, 15% Vintage pellets and F/C salt/mineral -
calves were sired by high performance sires -
