4-H ontario Education Scholarships

Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) is an advocate and unified voice for the province’s 19,000 beef farmers, representing all sectors of the industry. Recognizing that supporting youth is essential to the continued strength, sustainability and innovation of Ontario’s agriculture sector, BFO is committed to engaging, supporting and encouraging the next generation of beef farmers and agricultural leaders.
To advance this commitment, BFO will award three annual scholarships of $2,000 each to 4-H beef club participants who intend to pursue post-secondary education in agriculture. By investing in education and leadership development, these scholarships will help young people build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to contribute to the future of Ontario’s beef sector and rural communities.
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
- 4-H participants who have a minimum of five years of experience in a 4-H beef club.
- Applicants must be a 4-H participant in good standing.
- Applicants must be interested in pursuing a career in agriculture.
- Provide a 500-word essay about their career plans and how it aligns with ensuring a sustainable beef industry for the future.
- Proof of Post-Secondary Enrollment: Please upload proof of enrollment at a recognized post-secondary institution.
University of Guelph DVM Scholarships
A shortage of large animal veterinarians has left many farms across the province without access to veterinary care for their animals. In effort to help address the shortfall and build a strong pipeline of veterinary leaders, BFO presents two scholarships to students enrolled in the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph who are pursuing a career in large animal health and welfare.
University of Guelph degree bursaries
BFO also offers bursaries to students in the B.Sc. (Agr.), B.Comm. (Food and Agricultural Business), B.Sc. (Animal Biology) or B.Sc. (Food Science) program at the University of Guelph who have demonstrated financial need and have completed a minimum of 8.0 credits.

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) has compiled a helpful list of scholarships and bursaries available to post-secondary students pursuing education and careers in agriculture. Opportunities are available for both new and returning students and may help cover tuition, textbooks and other educational expenses.
